Change We Need (Still)
On November 4th, Barack Obama was elected President of the United States of America. I flew from Europe to take part in this moment. It was historic, fun, amazing... but it was somehow misleading.
Indeed, this election drove some people to the conclusion the U.S.A has got the racial issue over and turned into a "post-racial" country.
I think it would be a mistake to draw this kind of conclusion.
In order to be given an insight into the "state of the union" between white and black communities in the U.S.A, I traveled during three weeks on the green line of the Washington metro system from the North to the South, towards the black neighborhoods. Doing so, I experienced the inequalities from one place to another, and the physical separation between the two communities.
The outcome of my trip is a 120 pages book compiling a selection of 52 pictures, the personal notes I wrote down in my travel book, and a series of enlightening figures extracted from the last census.
